5K Fun !

So, I never thought I'd ever say this, but I had a fun 5K walk today. One of my friends, who is an avid runner and a fitness enthusiast, encouraged us to sign up for this. Not a runner, but with the promise of a 5k walk, which is not too bad as I go for walks almost every day anyway, I signed up !
Then I got my niece to sign up as well. This seemed like a fun event to go to and enjoy some conversations, the walk and a nice breakfast after that. Yes, the breakfast is an incentive for signing up for a 5K!

Someone, after hearing I signed up for 5K, told me - atleast once you need to wake up early for health. Does he know that I am someone who wakes  up early every day, 'cos responsibilities !  Sigh!

So leading up to the D-Day, it was BAU - business as usual. The previous day was a Saturday, so went tufting with my niece. Another first-time experience that was amazing. Both the activity and the company were memorable. We had to call it a day early so we could get a good night's sleep and could be well-rested before the walk/run.

That morning, I woke up by 4.45am, got ready and headed to a wave of light blue - everyone donning their light blue jerseys, that they received for signing up, all set to start the run/walk. Met my colleague-friends(yes, that is the term for colleagues who are worth meeting outside of work too!), exchanged pleasantries and off we went ahead. A couple of them ran, but I walked the entire 5K. It was a pleasant day, good company and the energy all around. The walk as such was not so tough. It was a good, steady pace and by the end of it, I was not out of breath or tired. Only had a small blister on my foot due to the shoe that I wore. I managed to walk inspite of it.

It definitely was a fun experience. I am told I will sign up for more and buy new shoes and collect more medals. Would I do it again ? Never say never, right ? Let's see how it goes from here. Until next time, happy walking/running!
