The week that was

11 / Oct

So, this weekend, I set out on a journey. Okay, a day trip to my city - Chennai to catch up with my childhood besties. Taking a day train seemed like a fine idea when I booked my tickets. However, the lack of sleep due to childlike excitement didn't help much! I have a long day ahead, and I am writing this on the train, while it is moving, with a pen, in my book, after debating with myself for a while over whether it's 'in' my book or 'on' my book before committing to "in."

I have another 1.5 hours before I see the smiling faces that will greet me. Unfortunately, the city today has two celebrities visiting: me and our PM! One of us is causing traffic diversions, while the other is anxious about the carefully set plan being jeopardized.

Arrived on time at Chennai Central and was greeted by my friends with cheer as I hopped into the car. My friend took the time to plan out our day to the T. Only change we made to this was that we skipped dinner and went on to meet the families of my friends instead. It was a good edit, I must say. Time moves much faster when you are with friends and when you are having fun. We spent 60 minutes at the Escape room trying to steal the Kohinoor, and it felt like 10 minutes ! We bought matching clothes and as we stood at the checkout line, we were busy yapping that we did not even realize that the person in front of us was shopping for about 50K INR and they kept bringing in more clothes as the cashier tried to bill the rest of the items. But hey, we did not fuss or worry because we were in excellent company and this did not even seem to bother us. If we were alone, I am sure we would have all snapped or tried to move to a different counter. You can suggest now that we could have all been standing in 3 different counters to begin with and then I can say with confidence that you have no idea of how friends meeting after a long time talk! We were huddled and catching up fervently. Remember - we only had 11 hours !

It was refreshing to catch up with school friends as it makes you younger instantly.  I had a wait listed ticket for my 10.50pm train and so bought another one for next day morning 6am. I did not cancel it as I probably hoped I could miss my night train and spend more time with my friends. Well, I didn't miss my train and I did have to say goodbye. Our plans are being made for our next meet. Which city, year, month, we have no idea, but it excites us that we can meet again !

So until next time, you should also enjoy with friends !
