The worth of Love

So I have my nieces who are just grown up enough to probably be in relationships or get married (though in my eyes they are always kids) and also team members who are in their early 20s around me. The one constant advice I give them is to never diminish their worth for the sake of love. I was watching Coffee Prince, a K-Drama which stars Gong Yoo, and I was looking at how they show the male lead treating her badly because he was in love with her. While I watch it, I cannot but imagine people wondering if it is okay to be treated badly in the name of love.

You should never feel intimidated in love or feel like the other person will leave you if you do not follow their orders. I follow a lady on Instagram who is sharing her life story on abuse and how she got out of it. One common theme is that she herself did not accept it was abuse until it got too far. She always blamed herself for all the abuse - verbal and physical - all because she was very happy and in love during the good days that she could ignore the really bad days.

When you are with the person you are in love with, ask yourself - how does the person make you feel rather than how you feel when you are with the person. Does it look too similar or repetitive ? Actually no. They are vastly different. How you feel when you are with that person is purely how you feel about the person and how madly in love or crush you are in. The other is what effort does the person consistently put to make you feel loved - not one day in a year, not once in a while, it has to be every living moment. Do I mean you will never have a fight ? No. I mean that even when you have a fight, you never feel unloved.

So next time you feel dizzy in love with someone, remember that question and ask yourself - how consistent is the other person making you feel in love through words, actions and everything that is not obvious. Remove those rose glasses and look again. I do hope you all find that one you love and the one who loves you. Never let your worth diminish. Love is never worth your disrespect. Until then, Happy Reading !
