I embarked on this arduous task of taking up diamond painting. The minute I saw the 10s of small packets with different colours and the tiny boxes with numbers labeled on it, I was 100% sure I would drop that midway and not complete it as intended.
I stashed it away as my table could not handle all that while I was still working. It must wait until the holidays started officially.
They remained in the shelf until 24th evening when I was wrapping up all tasks for the year and merely wishing everyone Happy Holidays!
I packed up my laptop and charger in my office bag and cleared the table for this monstrous assignment that I was picking up. I started with one colour around the border. First picking up the "cement" and then cutting open a small sachet of the numbered coloured stones and laying them on the green tray to line them up for faster picking. The first 10 made me want to give up. Then I had some more time, so did a few more, and then some more. Opened up another pack and did a bit more before calling it a day.
25th , I spent a lot of time doing it as it was starting to get addictive. The breaks I got were when I had to cook/bath/use restroom/go to dad's place. Rest was all in front of this activity. 26th, I went on a day trip(refer to my earlier post on what I did for friendship) and yet, when I got back home, I continued on this activity. 27th was a movie date with my kiddo along with his closest friend.Zootopia 2 was all that we had hoped that it would be and more. Then 3 hours of arcade, shopping from the holiday stalls, we got back home only in the evening. And guess what, I continued the diamond painting after a short rest.
I ended up completing it on the morning of 28th December. Got kiddo to record the final pasting. The satisfaction of having completed is amazing. Close to 10,000 pieces individually glued on to this sheet over 4 days. Phew! I was finally done. But at the end of it, I was caught in the conflict of thought - did i complete it because I was patient or did I complete it too soon because I was NOT patient.
I will let you be the judge of it. Until next time, Happy Reading!
My Father-in-law was not the typical FIL who was distant and would not interact with his daughter-in-law. Well, initially he was like that and then he warmed up to my presence and opened up to me. Over the last few years, as we spent a lot of time together, as we were all living in the same home, he became my close friend, mentor, guide and my biggest cheerleader. He was born in Shimoga, grew up in Amrutur with his aunt, started his family in Sagara and eventually retired into Bangalore. 80+ years, he has had the most enviable life. Don't mistake it for a rosy life or a life with no issues or problems! He was one among 11 - 6 boys and 5 girls. He was the 2nd child and as his mother had more children, she needed help raising the kids and so she reached out to her sister in law to take care of him in Amruthur - a farmland. He grew up under the care of his aunt and love from his cousins, who were all girls. He would eat fresh food from the abundance of the farm and also drink milk so...
